But first, some background.
As much as we love to hate the term “digital nomad”, there is no other way to describe the Freelance Graphic Designer Aisling (Fleur) O’Connor.
Aisling has spent the latter half of her ten-year (and counting) career on the road, working remotely from Greece, Portugal, Brazil, France and beyond. Why is this relevant, pray tell? Because travelling the world has informed Aisling’s crystal-clear communication style with her clients and ability to deliver on-point design on any deadline and in any timezone. Performing tasks remotely and meeting people from all walks of life has shaped her diligent work ethic, affable manner and drive to create bold and beautiful designs.
Having graduated with a 2.1 degree in Business, Economics and Social Studies from the university Trinity College in Dublin, Aisling shunned a life of suits and glass-panelled walls and instead moved to London in 2014 to study Graphic Design at Shillington Education.
Shortly after completing the course, Aisling landed her first role as Junior Graphic Designer for the perspex jewellery brand Tatty Devine. In 2017, Aisling started a new chapter at the demi-fine jewellery brand Missoma, and as the company expanded, she worked her way up to Senior Graphic Designer and managed the in-house design team.
When the world shut down in 2020, Aisling left her job at Missoma and volunteered for the NGO Dråpen i Havet, working in a refugee camp in Athens, Greece. Between volunteering and weathering out lockdowns in the Greek capital, she launched her freelance career. She also designed the printed limited edition book series Quarantune and honed her eye in photography and producing high-impact graphic design.
Today, Aisling has garnered an extensive portfolio of clients in the jewellery, fashion, and homeware realms, including Abbott Lyon, Amurelle, Blake LDN, CA Design, Genevieve Schwartz, Lily & Roo, Mulberry England, Renais Gin, Truffle Creative and V by Laura Vann.
In 2024, Aisling joined the boutique e-commerce and digital marketing agency Killing Digi, where she heads up Design & Creative Strategy and helps artisan brands scale across digital channels. In the same year, she co-founded the marketing agency Email Elevate, where she works as Head of Design. The collective offers on-brand email marketing, graphic design and copywriting services to small and medium-sized enterprises.
Balancing it all between a daily scroll and possible tip submission to Brand New, hoarding well-designed marketing collateral from her favourite brands, touching objects ranging in textures and a run around the locale, Aisling loves making the most out of each day, no matter where she's based.
So, where’s Aisling right now? A shack in Rio? A granny flat in London? A finca in Ibiza? Drop her a message to find out.
